Intensive Training for Assistance Dogs

Service and assistance dogs undergo intensive training, learning to execute a variety of commands. This training is ultimately tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual applicant.

An assistance dog is trained to perform various tasks, including:

• Grocery Assistance: Retrieving items from high shelves for wheelchair users.
• Financial Independence: Completing transactions at checkout counters that are too high for wheelchair users.
• Drawing Attention: Barking on command to attract attention when necessary.
• Dressing Assistance: Helping with putting on and removing clothing and shoes.
