PRK-9 Services: Committed to Transforming Lives Through Service and Assistance Dogs
PRK-9 Services is unwavering in its dedication to transforming lives by training and providing service and assistance dogs to individuals with disabilities. Our mission is rooted in the principle of restoring autonomy and enhancing the quality of life for those who need it most.
Through meticulous training and selection, we aim to develop service and assistance dogs capable of performing daily tasks and overcoming insurmountable obstacles for individuals with disabilities. These dogs are not only highly trained but also well-adapted to society, serving as both a tool and a source of emotional support.
PRK-9 Services works tirelessly to help individuals with disabilities fully participate in life and the world around them. We believe in the power of our service and assistance dogs to make a difference and serve as a source of hope for those they support.
Intensive Training for Assistance Dogs
Service and assistance dogs undergo intensive training, learning to execute a variety of commands. This training is ultimately tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual applicant.
An assistance dog is trained to perform various tasks, including:
- Grocery Assistance: Retrieving items from high shelves for wheelchair users.
- Financial Independence: Completing transactions at checkout counters that are too high for wheelchair users.
- Drawing Attention: Barking on command to attract attention when necessary.
- Dressing Assistance: Helping with putting on and removing clothing and shoes.
- Environmental Control: Operating light switches, opening and closing doors and cabinets.
- Retrieving Lost Items: Locating and retrieving lost items such as medication, mobile phones, and keys.
In short, an assistance dog is trained to perform a wide range of tasks that help individuals with disabilities become more independent and self-reliant in their daily lives.
Children can also benefit from a service or assistance dog, though they may be too young to fully take responsibility for the dog’s care. In such cases, a dual dog may be an option, where a family member or another individual assumes responsibility for the dog’s care.
